Bad luck travel day!

So, with yesterday being the fourth of July and all, I was up pretty late being a good American. In fact, with a six o'clock flight, I was up so late that going to bed just didn't make sense, so I didn't. We got to the Portland airport at about four, and things went great. Wendy's was open for my morning hash browns and security went smoothly. We made it on the plane and I fell asleep before take-off and didn't wake up for over three hours. But! When I did wake up, it was because I was really nauseous. Darn. So, I staggered towards the bathrooms, which were full, and then onto the flight attendant station. They sat me down and watered me and gave me a cold compress, while advising me that eating and drinking and getting some real sleep is good before flying, especially when you're on altitude meds. Oops. My bad. Anyway, it turned out okay, and I made it back to my seat right before landing in Houston. Then! Houston. I had always had fond memories of this airport, despite being warned of Houston horror stories last night, but now I'm not so sure. Or maybe it's just United that sucks. Our flight to Lima was delayed half an hour, then three hours, and now four hours. They gave us some meal vouchers to ease our bitterness, but a four hour layover transforming into eight hours is still a little painful. We'll see if we actually get out of here at eight! I kind of doubt it. Either way, it will sure be an adventure trying to clear customs and catch our next flight! I'll let you guys know how it turns out. The only certainty- lots of Starbucks.
